Chile World Cup star agrees to join QPR

Chile forward Eduardo Vargas could be on his way to QPR from Napoli on loan with a view to a permanent move.

The 24-year-old, who featured for his country at this summer’s World Cup and can play up front or as a winger, is one of a host of attacking players Rangers have enquired about in recent weeks.

And Vargas’ representatives were indicating on Monday evening that he will agree to join the club, rejecting an offer from Sunderland.

He would become the second Chilean to sign for QPR this summer, with Mauricio Isla having arrived from Juventus.

Vargas joined Napoli in 2012 and is yet to score a league goal for them, but he did net three times in 17 La Liga appearances while on loan at Valencia during the second half of last season.

Meanwhile, as Rangers discuss a possible deal with Napoli for Vargas, it appears their hopes of bringing in Netherlands midfielder Jonathan de Guzman could be scuppered by the Italian club.

They were close to signing the former Swansea loanee from Villarreal but believe De Guzman is on his way to Naples instead.

QPR do, however, expect to complete the signing of Leroy Fer from Norwich.
