QPR’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end as they were beaten by Norwich. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-0 defeat at Carrow Road.

Alex Smithies: 7

Produced a number of saves, the highlight being a fine stop to keep out Marcel Franke’s first-half header.

James Perch: 6

Competed well but always looked troubled by Norwich’s attacking on Rangers’ right side, especially after Pawel Wszolek went off injured.

Nedum Onuoha: 7

Defended particularly well in the first half, when he saved Rangers with several important clearances and challenges.

Joel Lynch: 5

Switched off for the goal, allowing Nelson Oliveira to sneak behind him to score.

Pawel Wszolek: 6

Was doing an important defensive job on the right-hand side before going off injured just before the half-hour mark. He was missed afterwards.

Josh Scowen: 7

Had another decent game in midfield. Worked hard throughout and created a first-half chance for Jamie Mackie.

Massimo Luongo: 6

His least impressive display so far this season. Gave the ball away on occasions and never really seemed to get going.

Luke Freeman: 6

Bright in flashes and might have done better with a second-half shot after being teed up by Mackie. Tried to make things happen but found the going tough in midfield as Norwich dominated.

Jake Bidwell: 6

Missed a decent early chance when he blasted over, but atoned with a vital clearance in the six-yard box during a spell of sustained Norwich pressure in the first half. Steady but unspectacular as always.

Jamie Mackie: 8

Rangers’ stand-out player. Was a constant menace to the Norwich defence, going close with a left-footed strike and a header in the first half and creating chances for Freeman and Conor Washington in the second.

Conor Washington: 6

Pressed well and showed good movement, but will be disappointed not to have taken at least one of the chances which came his way. Was unable to force the ball in from close range shortly after the first goal and fired wide from inside the box late on.

Kazenga LuaLua: 6

Wszolek was missed defensively but LuaLua offered something in an attacking sense. Likes to shoot from distance and one effort almost resulted in an equaliser.

Darnell Furlong: 6

Did a sound defensive job after being brought on midway through the second half but the momentum was very much with Norwich.

Matt Smith: 6

Didn’t trouble Norwich after being brought on for the final 20 minutes.
