QPR’s Scowen suffers suspected burst appendix

QPR midfielder Josh Scowen is set to miss Saturday’s derby against Fulham after being taken to hospital with a suspected burst appendix.

Scowen was assessed at Rangers’ Harlington training ground on Friday morning and his condition gave the club cause for concern.

Meanwhile, Jack Robinson and Paul Smyth are doubts for the game at Craven Cottage.

Both players missed the midweek win at Aston Villa after picking up injuries against Sunderland last weekend.

Robinson sustained a heavy knock to his thigh, while Smyth has been nursing a toe problem.

Smyth travelled with the squad to Villa and wanted to play, but was not deemed fit enough.

Manager Ian Holloway plans to assess the fitness of a number of players before naming his line-up.

“We’ve got little bits and pieces. Smythy is one and Jack Robinson is another,” Holloway said.

“They’ll tell me ‘yes I’m fit’ but they’ll lie a little bit. I’ve got to decide whether they’re fit or not.

“Little Smythy the other night said he was fit and I knew he wasn’t.”
