Faurlin convinced Granero will shine at QPR

Alejandro Faurlin is convinced his friend Esteban Granero can make an impact for QPR in the Premier League.

Granero, 27, was one of Rangers’ flagship signings during an ill-fated spending spree two years ago and failed to impress after moving to west London from Real Madrid.

Shipped back to Spain on a season-long loan to Real Sociedad following Rangers’ relegation, the midfielder is back with Harry Redknapp’s side, who are currently in Germany as part of their pre-season campaign.

Sociedad are interested in signing him permanently and talks have taken place between the two clubs, but Granero is keen to prove himself in England.

“Esteban is a great player. If he left now, people would say ‘Maybe he could have been a good Premier League player’,” said R’s star Faurlin.

“We have conversations and I say ‘You need to stay and you need to make sure you play in the Premier League’. For me it’s the best league.

“He’s a great person and a great player and he will play well.”

Granero managed 20 league appearances for Rangers in the top flight.

His first-team prospects could diminish if boss Harry Redknapp is able to sign Norwich’s Leroy Fer.

Rangers have had a bid for the Netherlands international rejected but are considering making an improved offer.
