Derby v QPR player ratings

QPR’s unbeaten run came to an end against Derby. Here’s how we rated the players in their 1-0 defeat at Pride Park.

Alex Smithies: 6

Less impressive than usual. Flapped at a first-half cross from Chris Baird and was unable to hold a shot from Tom Ince in the build-up to Derby’s goal. Did produce first-half saves to deny Johnny Russell and David Nugent though.

Darnell Furlong: 5

A difficult night for the youngster, who overall is developing nicely but was caused problems on the flank by Russell. Furlong being dragged out of position led to an early chance for the winger and hesitation by Furlong led to another chance in the second half.

Nedum Onuoha: 6

Did his best to help Furlong and won a number of challenges.

Grant Hall: 6

A decent enough display. Did the basics well but Derby worked hard to prevent him stepping into midfield with the ball.

James Perch: 7

Showed his versatility again with a good performance on the left-hand side of the defence. His positioning and awareness were spot on.

Pawel Wszolek: 6

Worked hard but was unable to have any real influence of the game.

Ryan Manning: 6

Caught in possession a couple of times but was undeterred. Competed well and always looked to create something with his passing.

Jake Bidwell: 6

As usual, solid and unspectacular. Kept things tight on Rangers’ left as they struggled on the opposite flank.

Luke Freeman: 6

Covered plenty of ground but it wasn’t Freeman’s night and his struggle to provide a link between midfield and attack had an major bearing on Rangers’ inability to trouble Derby.

Conor Washington: 6

Has enjoyed a purple patch but this was very reminiscent of the frustration he endured last year. He was unable to make an impact up front and could have done more defensively to track Baird on the right.

Matt Smith: 6

Very well contained by Bradley Johnson and failed to make an impression before twice going close in the final couple of minutes, seeing a shot saved and a header drift wide.

Sean Goss: 6

Showed his nice range of passing after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Yeni Ngbakoto: 6

Brought on to trouble Derby with his pace only for them to score a minute later.

Idrissa Sylla: 6

Unlucky when his header from Freeman’s late corner struck the post.
