Hughton sees Polter as QPR’s danger man

Sebastian Polter and Tjaronn Chery scored second-half goals for QPR

Brighton boss Chris Hughton has singled out Sebastian Polter as QPR’s danger man ahead of the two sides’ meeting on Tuesday – but warned his promotion-chasing side not to expect an easy ride.

The third-placed Seagulls thrashed Fulham 5-0 on Friday night to stretch their unbeaten league record to 10 matches.

But Hughton said he would not be taking QPR – whose only defeat in their last seven matches came to league leaders Middlesbrough – lightly.

He said: “We are expecting a very tough game.

“It was a very good game at Loftus Road back in December, certainly for them.

“We were 2-0 up and they showed what quality they have in the team.

“They are a lot more settled now and there aren’t too many changes in their team.”

Hughton added QPR would be well organised when they visit the Amex Stadium, and pinpointed Polter as a key man in Rangers’ attack.

He said: “Jimmy [Floyd Hasselbaink] has them playing in a good system and he has given [Sebastian] Polter a chance up top and he is performing very well for him.

“They’re on the back of a very good away result against Cardiff on the weekend and we expect a very tough game.”
