Bothroyd limps off during QPR debut

Plymouth 0 QPR 1

Summer signing Jay Bothroyd limped off only 31 minutes into his QPR debut.

Bothroyd went down after a seemingly innocuous challenge near the halfway line during the pre-season friendly at Home Park.

The England international received treatment on the pitch before being replaced by Heidar Helguson, who scored a late winner.

Kieron Dyer, also making his first appearance for the R’s, looked sharp before being substituted after 72 minutes.

Trialists Danny Webber and Danny Gabbidon featured again, as did Brazilian defender Bruno Perone.

The match was a testimonial for Argyle goalkeeper Romain Larrieu, who produced an excellent second-half save to deny Danny Shittu.

But Larrieu was unable to keep out Helguson’s header from Petter Vaagan Moen’s right-wing corner.
