Bond: Zamora still has something to offer

Kevin Bond said Bobby Zamora could yet have a big role to play at QPR after the striker’s goal helped them to a 3-0 win at home to Yeovil.

Zamora, affected by a hip condition and more recently a knee problem, has been a peripheral figure at Loftus Road and is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

But assistant manager Bond believes the former England international, 33, could help Rangers during the run-in as they attempt to win promotion.

“I don’t see why not. At his best he has been a top-class player,” said Bond.

“I wouldn’t say those days are gone, just fewer and further between. Injuries have hindered him, but he looked fit and raring to go today.

“It was great for Bobby. I thought he did really well when he came on and gave the whole place a bit of a lift.”

Meanwhile, Ravel Morrison and keeper Rob Green were among the Rangers players left nursing injuries after Saturday’s victory.
