Bond hails Ravel as QPR assess Doyle injury

Assistant boss Kevin Bond hailed Ravel Morrison after QPR’s 2-0 win at Birmingham – but Rangers left St Andrews with concerns over Kevin Doyle, who hobbled off with a knee injury in the closing minutes.

Morrison opened the scoring with a free-kick – his first goal since joining on loan from West Ham – and later scored again after being teed up by Jermaine Jenas.

It gave Rangers their first win in six matches and kept them in the race for automatic promotion following their recent poor spell.

Bond said: “We’re very delighted with the win off the back of the difficult time we’ve had.

“It was very important to us and the clean sheet was big as well, as in the early part of the season we did well with that.

“We’ve had a difficult period but today was much better for us and it was great to see Ravel come in with two goals.

“I don’t think anyone doubts the boy’s talent and what he brings to a team.

“He appears to have one or two other issues but he has been as good as gold in the short time he’s been with us.”

Doyle looks a doubt for Tuesday’s game at Brighton and his absence would be a blow for Rangers, who are already without sidelined top scorer Charlie Austin.

“He might have tweaked a ligament, but it’s too early to say at the moment,” said Bond.

“He worked really hard for us and he chased lost causes up front.”
