QPR were beaten by a late sucker punch after being denied what looked like a perfectly good goal.

Struggling Blackburn were poor, but took all three points when Sam Gallagher netted from close range after being found by Marvin Emnes’ cross.

Rangers have reason to feel aggrieved after a crucial decision early in the second half went against them.

Rovers failed to deal with Darnell Furlong’s throw-in and Conor Washington’s header appeared to cross the line after bouncing down off the underside of the bar.

No goal was awarded, robbing Washington of a third in as many matches.

Rangers, who conceded in the opening minute at Newcastle in midweek, would have scored in the opening minute this time had Blackburn keeper Jason Steele not denied Jamie Mackie after he had been set up by Washington.

Steele was called into action again a couple of minutes later, tipping over Joel Lynch’s header from Ryan Manning’s corner.

Blackburn’s Liam Feeney sent an effort narrowly wide before the interval, as did Manning.

Rangers continued to threaten after the restart and, having so nearly opened the scoring, Washington went close again when he fired wide after being set up by debutant Matt Smith.

Smith and fellow deadline-day signing Ravel Morrison came on as second-half substitutes, but the visitors faded in the closing stages.
