Austin unaffected by speculation – Ramsey

QPR head coach Chris Ramsey has insisted that Charlie Austin has not been affected by uncertainty over the striker’s future.

Liverpool, Southampton and even Chelsea are among the clubs to have been linked with Austin, who has scored 17 goals this season.

More recently there has been speculation that Bournemouth could sign the 25-year-old former Poole Town forward following the Cherries’ promotion to the Premier League.

Relegation-threatened Rangers hope to tie him to a new contract but accept he will almost certainly leave if they drop out of the Premier League.

“Charlie’s been fine. We haven’t really spoken about him leaving,” said Ramsey.

“The club would hate to have that speculation hovering around with the task we’ve got ahead, but as far as Charlie’s concerned and we’re concerned he’s a QPR player and has a duty to keep us in the division and I’m sure he’s going to do that.”

Meanwhile, Austin’s strike partner Bobby Zamora is a doubt for Rangers’ vital game at Liverpool on Saturday.
