Newcastle are the first Premier League club to show an interest in Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov, according to the Sunday People.
Berbatov’s agent has said that the Bulgarian forward is unhappy at Craven Cottage and wants to leave when the transfer window opens in January.
Several English clubs have been linked with him but it is claimed that Magpies boss Alan Pardew has made the first firm move and is keen to take Berbatov to St James’ Park.
It is suggested that Berbatov would cost around £2m and that midfielder Derek Boateng could also leave Fulham next month.

The champions are reported to be interested in the 16-year-old but he is tipped to sign a professional contract and stay in west London.
