Dimmock and Europe lose Junior Ryder Cup

Hillingdon-born teenager Annabel Dimmock suffered defeat in her singles match as Europe were comfortably beaten in the Junior Ryder Cup.

The 17-year-old went out fifth against Andrea Lee but lost on the opening two holes to put herself up against it.

Dimmock parred the third after a Lee bogey to reduce the deficit but the Englishwoman lost a further three holes on the front nine.

She remained four down with six to play and gave herself hope by winning the 13th, but a birdie on 14 and a par on 15 ensured Lee came away with a win 4&3.

On Monday, Dimmock lost her foursomes match with Italian Virginia Elena Carta but then teamed up with Scot Bradley Neil to win in the afternoon fourballs.

Europe needed to win eight of the 12 singles matches on Tuesday to regain the trophy but could only muster two points, through Renato Paratore and Marcus Kinhult

The USA secured a 16-8 victory, the third-biggest winning margin in the 17-year history of the mixed-gender competition.
