Interest in Ealing Half Marathon soars

The first ever Ealing Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 30 September and it seems to be proving popular with local runners.

Earlier this week, organisers announced that 2,500 people had signed up for what is fast becoming the biggest event of the west London running calendar.

With 100 days to go there is still time to register and in order to answer any questions potential participants might have, an information night is being held at the Ealing campus of Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College at 6pm on Thursday 28 June.

Race director Kelvin Walker said: “A lot of people are training for their first half marathon and people might want to chat about how much training they need to do, or the type of things they should be eating”.

If 13.1 miles running around the streets of Ealing sounds a bit much, there are also numerous opportunities for volunteers with 300 being sought to help marshal on the day.

Volunteer co-ordinator Arlene Gallagher commented: “Marshalling is a very simple job that ensures people stick to the route but it will play a crucial role in making sure everyone has a great day.

“So if you don’t fancy running but want to join in the fun, our message is: ‘Ealing Needs You'”.
