Farah confirms Glasgow Games double

Mo Farah will compete for England in the 5,000 and 10,000m at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, it has been confirmed.

Hounslow’s double Olympic gold medallist, who is also the world champion over both distances, is scheduled to run in a special event at the Diamond League meeting in Glasgow on 12 July, with the Games commencing 11 days later.

Farah, 31, made a winning return to the track in a 5,000m race in Portland on Sunday.

It was his first race since the London Marathon in April, when he finished eighth on his debut in the event.

He broke Steve Cram’s 28-year-old 1500m British record last year and then turned his attention to the marathon.
