Wealdstone on the verge of promotion

Wealdstone are on the verge of promotion to the Conference South following a 3-0 win at East Thurrock.

Carl McCluskey scored twice and Charlie Penney also found the net in a resounding away victory for Gordon Bartlett’s side.

And a defeat for promotion rivals Bognor Regis, who lost 2-1 at Enfield Town after conceding a last-minute goal, means the table-topping Stones need just two more wins to be sure of being Ryman League champions.

Their title triumph could even be clinched on Saturday if they beat Metropolitan Police and results elsewhere go the Ruislip-based club’s way.

Meanwhile, Wealdstone boss Bartlett has been named the Ryman Premier manager of the month for March.
