Wealdstone suffer at hands of St Albans

Wealdstone remain rooted to the foot of the Conference South table after a disappointing defeat at The Vale.

Gordon Bartlett’s side went into this one in buoyant mood after winning their first match since promotion in midweek but fell behind shortly before half-time when Sean Cronin failed to clear and John Frendo struck.

Watford loanee Luke O’Nien went close with a free-kick in the second half but St Albans doubled their lead on 74 minutes through Lee Clarke.

Eight minutes later, a push inside the box allowed Frendo to make it 3-0 and set the seal on Stones’ sixth defeat in 11 matches.

Pat Cox netted his third goal of the season but Hayes and Yeading were denied victory by an equaliser 15 minutes from time.

Cox, whose double settled the west London derby with Wealdstone two weeks ago, struck from a corner on 27 minutes to put United in front.

Hemel were on top for most of the second half, with the United defence blocking several shots and goalkeeper Calum Kitscha making a couple of good saves.

But he could nothing about Jordan Parkes’ inch-perfect free-kick, which was buried into the bottom corner to earn the hosts a point.

Alan Dowson celebrated victory in his first home game as Hampton and Richmond boss with Charlie Moone netting the winner against East Thurrock.

Billy Jeffreys had put Hampton ahead in the first half after Tommy Brewer’s free-kick wasn’t cleared but Simon Peddie levelled just after the hour mark.

Within seven minutes, Hampton had scored what proved to be the winner. Jerome Federico provided the cross and Moone fired home with a first-time shot to send a season’s-best Beveree crowd of 405 home happy.

Hendon shared the points after a topsy-turvy six-goal thriller at Tonbridge Angels.

The Greens were 2-0 up inside 25 minutes thanks to Lee O’Leary and Leon Smith but two goals in the final five minutes of the first half from in-form Tonbridge striker Billy Medlock meant the teams went in all square.

Tonbridge then edged in front shortly after the break through Dee Okojie but Casey MacLaren’s 58th-minute goal ensured Hendon came away with a draw.

Lewis Driver scored twice in the last 20 minutes to earn Harrow Borough a morale-boosting win over Leiston.

Dave Anderson’s side had lost their previous four league games but summer signing Driver netted on 71 and 87 minutes to lift Harrow up to 15th.
