Veteran striker Louis joins Wealdstone

Wealdstone have bolstered their attack by signing vastly experienced striker Jefferson Louis from Conference North side Lowestoft Town.

The Harrow-born 35-year-old has played for 30 different clubs in a nomadic career, seeing Football League action with Oxford United, Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town.

However, the one-time Dominica international is best known for his long service in non-League football, and last season scored 22 goals in the Ryman Premier Division for Hendon.

In 2006-07, he had a short but prolific spell at Yeading and then five years later played 10 games for Hayes and Yeading United.

Louis’s signing comes as a boost to Wealdstone after they lost Stevenage loanee Connor Calcutt to a broken leg.

Stones boss Gordon Bartlett said: “We have been in talks for some weeks with Jefferson.

“Timing is important with new signings and with the long-term injury to Connor Calcutt and Enoch Showunmi out at Canvey Island we need to add to our options up front.

“Jefferson has a great deal of experience at our level of football and higher and has always scored goals wherever he has been and will be a handful for defenders.”
