Second win lifts Stones off the bottom

Weston-super-Mare 1 Wealdstone 2

Wealdstone moved off the bottom of the Conference South after registering only their second win of the campaign.

Stones trailed at the break after Dayle Grubb put the hosts ahead against the run of play on 33 minutes and Jonathan North made two outstanding saves to keep Weston at bay.

Parity was restored on 50 minutes when Scott McGleish reacted quickest on the edge of the six-yard box to head home, and Stones continued to look the better side in the second half.

They got the winner their play merited on 64 minutes through Tom Hamblin’s header and Stones saw out the victory.

Hayes and Yeading 2 Bishop’s Stortford 1

First-half goals from Dan Wishart and the returning Tom Collins earned Hayes and Yeading a hard-fought victory at York Road.

United went in front after just nine minutes as Wishart let fly with a left-footed shot from 20 yards but Bishop’s Stortford equalised almost immediately when Ashley Miller bundled home.

What transpired to be the winning goal arrived on 25 minutes when Collins, making his third ‘debut’ for the club after arriving from Wealdstone this week, took the ball past keeper Joe Wright and rolled it into the empty net.

Collins also hit the bar while United keeper Calum Kitscha made a fine save late on to ensure the three points.

Ryman Premier Division round-up

Lee O’Leary netted the winner in the last minute of stoppage time to extend Hendon‘s unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competititons.

Leon Smith put the Greens in front on 34 minutes, breaking a post-war club record by scoring in seven consecutive games, but Lewes replied on the hour mark thanks to Jack Dixon’s excellent goal from 20 yards.

Just as the game looked destined for a draw, O’Leary headed home Oliver Sprague’s pinpoint cross as Hendon kept the pressure up on front-runners Maidstone and Margate.

Hampton and Richmond Borough suffered a second consecutive defeat as they were beaten 2-0 at Tonbridge Angels.

Tonbridge striker Billy Medlock did the damage with goals in the 53rd and 78th minutes.

Jake Gilbert’s equaliser had the teams level at the break but Peacehaven scored three times in six second-half minutes, through Joe Gatting, Sami El Abd and Josh Jones
