Mota keen to take Hampton chance

Hampton & Richmond youngster Gustavo Sousa Mota says the coming season is a crucial one for him as he looks to continue his development.

Mota, 18, burst onto the scene last term following a series of impressive performances at youth and reserve level.

“It’s definitely an important season for me. Hopefully I can do well, stay in the first team and progress from there,” Mota told West London Sport.

“To be 18 and playing at this level is not bad. I’m just going to keep working hard and doing my best for the club.”

Mota’s versatility could boost his first-team chances, but despite featuring on both flanks for Borough the Brazilian admits he prefers playing through the middle.

“I’m a central midfielder really but if I’m asked to play on the left or right I will do a job for the team,” he said.
