Hayes & Yeading sign Chelmsford pair

Hayes & Yeading United have signed defender Yado Mambo and midfielder Christian Smith from Conference South rivals Chelmsford City.

Kilburn-born centre-back Mambo, now 23, began his career as a trainee at Charlton and had numerous loan spells, including at AFC Wimbledon in League Two and Shrewsbury in League One.

After being released by the Addicks in 2013, he had brief spells in non-League with Ebbsfleet United and Dover, before joining Chelmsford.

Smith, 27, has signed Conference forms with United after impressing during a loan spell, scoring three times in 12 games in the latter stages of this season.

He made one appearance for Port Vale at the start of his career, but also has experience in the Conference Premier with Cambridge United, Northwich Victoria, Wrexham, York, Newport County, Tamworth, Barrow and AFC Telford.
