Anderson’s Harrow flying flag in FA Cup

Stephen Butterworth’s second-half winner sent Harrow Borough into the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Dave Anderson’s side made the perfect start against Ryman Division One North side Waltham Abbey, netting after just 18 seconds as Marc Charles-Smith raced through down the left before slotting home.

But despite having the better of the chances, Harrow were pegged back immediately after half-time when keeper Nick Jupp brought down Ben Hart and Tom Bruno converted the penalty.

The crucial goal came just after the hour mark as the visitors gave the ball up in midfield and Butterworth took full advantage to fire Harrow into Monday’s draw.

Dorchester Town 1 Hendon 0

Hendon’s FA Cup dreams were ended by a single-goal defeat at Southern League Dorchester.

A first half of few chances ended unsurprisingly goalless but after the break, Leon Smith, chasing a Hendon club record of scoring in nine successive games, drew a save from Magpies keeper Alan Walker-Harris.

On 62 minutes, the hosts – relegated from Conference South last season – produced a moment of magic to win the game as debutant Andy Robinson cut in from 20 yards out before firing a right-footed shot into the top corner.

Smith did have the opportunity to level after rounding the keeper but slipped at the crucial moment and the Dorchester defence cleared.

Ryman Premier Division round-up

Two goals from Charlie Moone fired Hampton and Richmond into the top 10 of the Ryman League for the first time this season in front of a crowd of 801.

The striker’s brace put Hampton 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes against struggling VCD Athletic, but he squandered a chance for his hat-trick when he missed a penalty.

Leigh Bremner pulled a goal back for the Kent club early in the second half but Hampton held out, backed by a large crowd who had paid what they wanted to get in.

Due to their FA Cup exits, neither Hayes and Yeading United or Wealdstone had league games, but the Stones beat Met Police 4-1 in a friendly.
