Ex-Bees keeper signs for Hampton

Lee featured for the Bees

Former Brentford goalkeeper Richard Lee has joined Hampton & Richmond Borough.

The 33-year-old retired from professional football in the summer after a long-standing shoulder injury had restricted him to just one first-team appearance for the Bees in 18 months.

Lee, who spent five years at Brentford and was previously with Watford, has now registered for the Ryman League side ahead of Saturday’s FA Trophy tie with Maidstone United.

He will compete for the goalkeeper’s position with Brentford development squad keeper Mark Smith, who extended his loan spell with Hampton earlier this week.

Manager Alan Dowson moved for Lee after Seb Brown left to sign for Wingate & Finchley last week.
