Babb admits pressure after losing run

Phil Babb has admitted he is under pressure from the Hayes & Yeading United hierarchy to end the club’s poor run of form.

The former Liverpool defender, who took over as United boss last summer, has been told results must improve after they lost seven league matches in a row.

They are three points above the Conference South relegation zone ahead of a punishing schedule of four games in seven days, starting with a trip to high-flying Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.

Chairman Tony O’Driscoll has expressed concerns about the slump but Babb believes he will be given time to turn the club around.

He told West London Sport: “The club are not happy with results.

“That’s football. When things are going well, you’re the best thing since sliced bread, when it’s not you get the blame.

“I’ve had a chat with the chairman. He needs to see a strategy in place for turning it round and he’s fully on board with it.”

Babb this week signed Bournemouth duo Brandon Goodship and Samir Bihmoutine to bulk up his squad and hopes fresh blood will transform their season.

He said: “It’s about finding the right character as much as anything.”
