Third-day washout frustrates Middlesex

Close, day three: Middlesex v Sussex

No play was possible for a third straight day in the County Championship match between Middlesex and Sussex on Wednesday.

Umpires Steve Garratt and David Millns declared the soaking wet outfield at Merchant Taylors School unplayable just after 10.30am.

The Northwood ground is yet to see a ball bowled in the match, with the first two days also scuppered by the weather.

A draw is now virtually certain, although both teams will look to accrue bonus batting and bowling points should play get underway on Thursday.
