Panthers suffer abandonment at Durham

Durham 56-3 (14 ov) v Middlesex
(Durham 1 pt, Middlesex 1 pt)

Middlesex’s Royal London Cup clash with Durham was abandoned after 14 overs due to persistent rain at Chester-le-Street.

Toby Roland-Jones had removed Phil Mustard for three and England all-rounder Ben Stokes for a duck to reduce the hosts to 56-3.

Captain Mark Stoneman scored the vast majority of Durham’s runs and was on 46 not out when the heavens opened.

Although there was a break in the bad weather, the outfield was too sodden for the players to return and when heavier showers arrived, the match was called off.
