Rodgers praises Sterling after Reds win

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers praised Raheem Sterling after his team’s 3-2 win at QPR.

The 19-year-old from Harlesden has been in the headlines after telling England boss Roy Hodgson he felt tired ahead of the recent Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia.

He was certainly lively at Loftus Road, were he was involved in all three of the visitors’ goals.

And Rodgers said: “I thought he was outstanding. His cleverness and brightness showed for the first goal and it was a great run by Glen Johnson.

“The two breakaways were all about Raheem’s speed, technique and his courage to run with the ball.

“His pace meant he got in behind for the third goal and if Steven Caulker doesn’t get the own goal then Mario Balotelli probably gets his first goal.

“All sorts of things have been said and written from an unfortunate incident and we’ve got to move on from that. Today he was exceptional.”
