Latest: Sheffield Wednesday 2 QPR 0

Ten-man QPR are staring down the barrel of another away defeat after conceding a second goal not long after the break.

Rangers trailed at half-time to Chris Maguire’s 35th-minute penalty, with Richard Dunne sent-off for bringing down Leon Best in the box.

And, despite two substitutions at the interval, their evening took a further turn for the worst as Best turned Nedum Onuoha before firing past Brian Murphy.

The introduction of Suk-Young Yun at left-back, for only his second Championship appearance, and Niko Kranjcar for the disappointing Junior Hoilett has so far failed to spark Rangers into life.

Onuouha attempted to make amends for his part in the second goal but nodded wide from Joey Barton’s free-kick.

In the first half, QPR had dominated possession early on without creating a clear-cut chance, Ravel Morrison’s low drive through a crowd of players fielded comfortably by Wednesday keeper Damian Martinez.

But once Dunne was dismissed, and Maguire had converted the spot-kick, Wednesday took control of midfield and twice came close to doubling their lead.

Maguire sent a header wide of the post and, on the stroke of half-time, Murphy made an outstanding save to keep out Atdhe Nuhiu’s bullet header.

However, that was merely a stay of execution with Best needing just six minutes of the second half to grab Wednesday’s second.

QPR: Murphy, Onuoha, Dunne, Hill, Hughes, Hoilett (Kranjcar 46), Barton, Henry (Yun 46), O’Neil, Morrison, Zamora.
Subs: Lennox, Carroll, Keane, Maiga, Benayoun.
