Woeful Fulham are thrashed at Derby

Derby County 5 Fulham 1

Fulham’s terrible start to life in the Championship continued as they were thrashed by Derby.

The pressure was already mounting on manager Felix Magath and his cause will not have been helped by an abject display which saw them outclassed.

Poor defending led to all of Derby’s goals and the home side took total control after Scott Parker had netted an equaliser for the visitors.

Fulham’s back four were stationary as Jamie Ward ran into the six-yard box to volley the ball into the roof of the net.

Fulham levelled against the run of play when Ross McCormack found Parker, who had enough time and space to calmly place the ball into the corner.

But the visitors capitulated in the final 30 minutes.

Johnny Russell seemed to have all the time in the world as he volleyed the ball to Craig Bryson, who side-footed in the second.

Chris Martin turned young centre-back Cameron Burgess inside out before smashing the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.

Martin added a straightforward fourth late on after a Simon Dawkins’ shot hit the post.

And Dawkins ran past three Fulham defenders before slotting home the fifth.
