Symons ‘kicking himself’ over Christensen

Fulham boss Kit Symons conceded he rushed Lasse Vigen Christensen back too soon after the midfielder tweaked his hamstring injury in the FA Cup stalemate with Wolves.

The in-form Danish midfielder had been expected to miss the game but he trained fully on Friday with no reaction and was named in the starting line-up, only to limp off after 32 minutes.

Symons said: “I’m kicking myself a bit because I’d ruled him out completely.

“Then Friday morning they tested him before training – twisting, turning, everything – and he didn’t feel a thing.

“But [during the game] he felt it slightly again – he hasn’t done any extra damage but next time we’ll have to make sure we get it right.”

Symons was full of praise for goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, who produced two fine saves to keep Wolves at bay and earn his side another shot at the fourth round.

The Whites boss said: “He was excellent, Marcus. He made a couple of really good saves at important times.

“He’s been very good all season and I’ve been delighted with his development.”
