Symons confident he will get Fulham job

Caretaker boss Kit Symons declared he was “very confident” of being given the Fulham manager’s job following the 3-0 win against Charlton.

The Whites’ fourth league victory since Symons took charge moved them out of the bottom three for the first time this season.

And Symons believes it would be difficult for the club’s owner Shahid Khan, who is being advised by a five-man panel, to hand the job to someone else.

“I haven’t thought about not being given the job. I’m very confident,” Symons said.

“It’s got to be becoming more difficult all the time for the owner and the five-man panel [to appoint anyone else] with the team winning games and playing so well.

“You’d like to think they would be able to see the obvious thing to do and the right thing for this football club.

“I will speak to Mr Khan in our Monday conference call but I’m in the dark over how a decision will come about.

“He is definitely here the week after next but I don’t know what to expect.”

Hugo Rodallega scored twice and Scott Parker found the net against his former club as Symons secured his 13th point from a possible 21 since taking over from the sacked Felix Magath in September.

“The aim is to improve with every training session and every game and I feel we’re doing that,” he said.

“We’ve been playing teams who are well placed and on good runs of form but nothing fazes my players, whether it’s the young lads or the senior ones.

“There’s a real confidence and genuine belief we can win every game and I’m happy to put out any team.”
