Fulham sign Leeds United forward Smith
Fulham have signed Leeds United striker Matt Smith for £500,000.
Smith, 25, has signed a three-year deal and is poised to reform the formidable partnership he had last season with Ross McCormack, who signed for the Whites earlier this summer.
But Fulham failed with an attempt to sign Bolton forward Jermaine Beckford and missed out on Cardiff City captain Mark Hudson, who has joined Huddersfield Town.
Fulham were hoping to offload Bryan Ruiz, Fernando Amorebieta and Hugo Rodallega, while Alexander Kacaniklic has left the club on a season-long loan, joining FC Copenhagen.
Costa Rica international Ruiz, 29, spent the majority of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, while defender Amorebieta and Rodallega are not part of manager Felix Magath’s plans.
Rodallega has started just once in the Championship this season and Amorebieta is yet to feature at all.

We’re crying out for a big guy up front who can hold the ball up and bring others into play,we lost that when Martin Jol decided to dispense with Bobby Zamora and the downward slide began,If Matt Smith can do a similar job then he’ll be a very popular guy at the Cottage…..here’s hoping, good luck Matt

I like Smith. He’s a big unit and is a real handful,and he’s only going to get better. He can be a bit slow at times but if you feed him crosses he will score.I’m really sorry to see him leave as he offers something different .Good luck Matt (apart from when you are playing us)

Leeds fan here. You are getting a big lad who can be brought on for the last 15 minutes in games as an aerial threat to unsettle defences. He is an intelligent guy and he has improved a bit whilst at Leeds. When Leeds bought him from Oldham he wasn’t a regular first team player at Oldham. Essentially, he is a League 1 player who is not very mobile but if Fulham are going to play a long ball style he could fit into that and provide knock downs for other strikers. However, if I was a Fulham fan I wouldn’t be happy especially after paying well over the odds for McCoy mack.
