Jokanovic praises Spurs but rues ‘cheap’ goals

Slavisa Jokanovic admitted Fulham were well beaten by Tottenham in their FA Cup defeat against the Premier League side.

Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as Spurs won 3-0 to secure a quarter-final place.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino named a strong line-up and the difference in class was obvious, with the Championship team very much second best.

And Whites boss Jokanovic suggested that Spurs’ recent defeats against Liverpool and Gent led to them fielding such a strong team and were ultimately a major factor in the result at Craven Cottage.

He said: “Spurs showed us respect and Pochettino showed it with his starting 11.

“After two defeats they didn’t want to take so many risks and it’s very clear that they came into this game on a high level. All credit for that.

“We can learn about how they work without the ball. They showed humility during the game when all working together, and I was impressed with that.

“It was different to our competition, where we can dominate teams and have possession of the ball.”

Kane’s first two goals both came via right-wing crosses from Christian Eriksen.

The first came when Scott Malone was caught out by Kieran Trippier’s quicky-taken throw and allowed Eriksen to drift away from him.

Jokanovic admitted: “The first goal was so cheap, from a throw, and the second goal was the same situation. It’s a fair result.”
