Jokanovic eyes deal for defender Bassong

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic

Fulham head coach Slavisia Jokanovic would like to sign centre-back Sebastien Bassong from Norwich City.

Leeds United are believed to be interested in the Cameroon international, who played under Jokanovic during a three-month loan spell at Watford during the 2014-15 season.

Bassong, 30, has played in England since 2008, when he joined Newcastle from French club Metz.

He later had a three-year spell at Tottenham and joined Norwich in 2012. He has not played for the Canaries so far this season.

West London Sport revealed last week that Jokanovic is at odds with the Fulham hierarchy over the club’s transfer policy.

The Serbian confirmed those tensions after Saturday’s draw against Cardiff, admitting his frustration at missing out on a number of his targets.

He is also keen to sign Blackburn winger Ben Marshall and wants at least one striker following the summer departures of Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele.
