Fulham’s Williams faces six months out

Fulham midfielder George Williams faces six months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury while on loan at MK Dons.

The 19-year-old was taken off during the Dons’ League One match against Chesterfield last Tuesday.

Scans showed he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament injury and he underwent reconstructive surgery in London on Saturday.

The Wales international will now begin a rehabilitation programme which is expected to last four to six months.

Williams had only rejoined his former club on loan three weeks ago and the Chesterfield game was his fourth appearance.

Before he was forced off, he set up a goal for Lewis Baker, the Chelsea midfielder who is also on loan at Stadium MK.
