Fulham complete signing of Wolves defender Stearman

Fulham have signed Wolves defender Richard Stearman for a fee believed to be around £2m.

Stearman, 28, who can play right-back or centre-back, has agreed a three-year contract at Craven Cottage.

He started every league game for Wolves in 2015 and made 233 appearances for the club in total, having joined from boyhood side Leicester in 2008.
He helped Wolves win the Championship in his first season and was also a regular in two of the three Premier League campaigns that followed.

In 2012-13, while Wolves were struggling near the foot of the top flight, Stearman spent a spell on loan at Ipswich, before re-establishing himself at Molineux after the club’s relegation.

Last season, he was named both the fans’ and players’ player of the year.

The signing of Stearman is part of a reshaping of the Fulham defence. Having already signed Bolton’s Tim Ream, they added Ryan Fredericks from Bristol City on Monday and are prepared to let Dan Burn and Nikolay Bodurov leave.

Sheffield United have had a bid for Burn turned down, but talks are ongoing, while the Whites are hoping to strike a loan deal for Bodurov.
