Fulham keeper Bettinelli to have surgery next week

Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli will undergo surgery on his knee injury on Tuesday.

The England Under-21 international and team-mate Matt Smith both sustained ligament damage when colliding with each other in the defeat at Hull last week.

Smith is likely to be out for at least another month, while the extent of Bettinelli’s injury will only become clearer after the operation.

Jamie O’Hara and Shaun Hutchinson will both be fit for the Whites’ trip to Rotherham on Saturday, having missed Tuesday night’s League Cup win over Sheffield United.

However, Nikolay Bodurov has been ruled out with a swollen knee.

Scott Parker and George Williams, who have yet to feature this season, will play in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break to gain match fitness.
