Concern for Grimmer after defender is injured in Fulham cup win

Fulham are waiting to hear the extent of Jack Grimmer’s injury after the defender was stretchered off during the 1-0 League Cup win at Wycombe.

The 21-year-old full-back was replaced after 62 minutes and manager Kit Symons admitted after the game he was concerned.

The Whites boss said: “We’re still waiting to find out but it looked a nasty one. I don’t want to say too much yet but we’ve got our fingers crossed for him.”

Symons praised his team’s back line for keeping a clean sheet against the League Two side, with an Alex Kacaniklic strike settling the match.

He said: “Wycombe put us under a lot of pressure with balls into the box and we had to defend resolutely, which we did.

“I think the difference is that last year I’d be expecting something to fall for the opposition. Today we defended manfully – the back four were excellent and Marcus [Bettinelli] in goal was very good.

“There were a few changes from Saturday, without weakening the team. We’ve got a fairly tight squad but a really good squad.

“If we can get one or two more acquisitions in, we’re going to be looking really good.”
