Fulham complete signing of Spanish defender

Fulham have completed the signing of defender Marcelo Djalo for an undisclosed fee.

West London Sport revealed last month that Fulham’s player analysis department were keen to sign Djalo, 23, from Spanish second division side Club Deportivo Lugo despite others at the club having misgivings.

Djalo, who was a youth player at Real Madrid and later had a spell at Juventus without playing for the Italian club, has signed a three-year contract at Craven Cottage with the option of a further year.

“For me it is a proud moment. It’s a big club, an emblem of the city,” he told Fulham’s website.

“Quite simply, I want to be here, I want to work here, I want to grow as a person and a footballer at this great club.”
