Enjoyment key to good form – Symons

Fulham boss Kit Symons has attributed his side’s upturn in form to a new-found sense of enjoyment in the camp.

The 3-1 win over Huddersfield extended the Whites’ unbeaten run to six league matches and lifted them back out of the Championship drop zone.

Symons said his players were relishing matches and are also having fun at training.

He said: “It’s great to see them really enjoying their football.

“In the first couple of weeks after I took over, I couldn’t get them in off the training field. They wanted to stay and have a kickaround afterwards, which was great to see.

“It’s their job but there needs to be an enjoyment level and a feeling of doing it for each other.”

Symons was pleased with the performance against the Terriers, in particular the quality of the goals scored by Hugo Rodallega, Lasse Vigen Christensen and Ross McCormack.

He said: “I thought first half we played some good stuff. We certainly deserved to be in front, albeit we rode our luck when they had that good chance that [Harry] Bunn put just wide of the post.

“It was almost inevitable I suppose that a goal was going to come from a set piece – they’re a big side and we gave away too many cheap free-kicks.

“But the response from the team to bounce straight back was excellent. Lasse scored a tremendous goal and Ross put the icing on the cake.”
