Redknapp: Facing Chelsea’s forwards would be ‘a different matter’ for Man Utd

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has suggested that Manchester United’s defence could still be caused problems by the Premier League’s top teams.

Louis van Gaal’s side were without a win this season and looked vulnerable at the back prior to their 4-0 thrashing of Rangers at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Even then they were unconvincing at times, but Redknapp admitted that his team were simply not good enough to exploit any potential weaknesses.

“United have got some fantastic attacking players,” he said.

“Whether they can cope with forwards Chelsea have got would be another game for them – a different matter. We just didn’t have the cutting edge up front to cause them problems.”

Goals from Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata gave United a resounding victory against the R’s.

But Redknapp said: “I didn’t think they were great goals to be honest. Rooney’s shot was okay. It found its way into the back of the net somehow.

“Obviously they had a lot of the ball, but we expected that. I think they had four shots in the first half and scored three goals.”
