Pearce loses job as Forest manager

Stuart Pearce has left his job as Nottingham Forest manager after seven months in charge at the Championship club.

The Shepherd’s Bush-born 52-year-old, who has been replaced by Dougie Freedman, returned to Forest last summer, signing a two-year contract at the City Ground.

But the team have struggled under him this season and Saturday’s home defeat by Millwall was their sixth loss in seven matches.

Pearce established himself as a Forest legend during 12 years as a player there, during which he became a fixture of the England side. He also had a spell as the Reds’ caretaker manager in 1997.

His time as boss started well and they made an impressive start to the campaign before results deteriorated. Forest are currently 12th in the table.
