Hayes proud after Wembley triumph

Chelsea Ladies boss Emma Hayes spoke of her pride after her team’s Women’s FA Cup triumph – and insisted she never doubted they would be victorious.

Ji So-Yun’s first-half goal at Wembley secured a 1-0 win against Notts County Ladies and her side’s first major trophy.

“We work hard as coaches for days like today,” Hayes declared.

“I could not ask to be part of a better organisation or to have a better staff – they have worked their socks off for three and a half years.

“We have a group of players that commit to everything they do. They were never going to be on the losing team today – I knew that from the opening whistle.

“I’m incredibly proud of them. I actually enjoyed every minute of it.”

A crowd of 30,710 – the largest UK attendance for a domestic women’s match  – was at Wembley to see the game.
