Chelsea Ladies star wins WSL award

Chelsea Ladies star Ji So-Yun has been named the FA Women’s Super League 1 Players’ Player of the Year.

The South Korea international, 23, was hugely impressive in her first season in England, scoring a nine goals in 19 appearances.

Signed from Japanese side INAC Kobe Leonessa in late 2013, she was a stand-out performer in the Chelsea side which finished as runners-up and qualified for the Champions League.

So-Yun won the award after being nominated along with Birmingham City’s Karen Carney and Notts County’s Jess Clarke.

“It means a great deal to me to be recognised by my fellow players,” she said.

“The award is not only for me but all the players and staff at Chelsea Ladies who made me so welcome.”
