Chelsea Ladies draw with Liverpool

Chelsea Ladies drew 0-0 with Liverpool in their first home match of the Women’s Super League season.

They finished the game at Staines Town’s Wheatsheaf Park with 10 players after Ji So-Yun was adjudged to have dived and was shown a second yellow card in the closing stages.

Liverpool’s Gemma Davison hit the post in the first half, while at the other end Ji shot over, Rachel Williams fired straight at the keeper and Eniola Aluko curled an effort wide.

Chelsea, who won at Bristol Academy in midweek in their WSL opener, had further chances in the second half.

One fell to Laura Coombs, who was denied by a good save, before Aluko missed a great chance when she shot wide after being put through.

Liverpool finished strongly following Ji’s dismissal and Davison went close with a 25-yard strike.
