Chelsea Ladies are beaten in semi-final

Chelsea Ladies missed out on the final of the FA Women’s Cup, losing 5-3 against Arsenal after extra time.

Yuki Ogimi’s 86th-minute goal looked like giving the Blues a thrilling semi-final triumph at Woking’s Kingfield ground, but Kelly Smith’s injury-time goal – her second equaliser of the game – rescued the Gunners, who eventually prevailed.

Smith had a first-half penalty saved by Marie Hourihan but atoned by levelling two minutes after Ji So-Yun opened the scoring in the second half.

Arsenal hit back through Smith again after Ogimi [pictured above] tapped in, and they took control in extra time, with Danielle Carter scoring before setting up Shinobu Ohno to make it 4-2.

Eniola Aluko pulled a goal back with a 20-yard strike but Casey Stoner’s header sealed Arsenal’s victory.
