Tottenham v QPR player ratings
QPR find themselves bottom of the table after two matches following a 4-0 hammering at Tottenham. Here’s how we rated the Rangers players in the defeat.
Rob Green: 6
Commanded his area well at set-pieces and was left exposed for all four Spurs goals.
Steven Caulker: 6
Caught out a few times but did his job well enough for the most part. Missed a good chance to score though.
Rio Ferdinand: 6
Like Caulker, his own display wasn’t too bad despite the team as a whole defending poorly.
Richard Dunne: 4
Taken off after a dire first-half display in which he was too slow for the first goal and woefully at fault for the third.
Mauricio Isla: 6
Endured a difficult debut but QPR’s midfield were largely at fault for that, consistently failing to follow instructions to get out wide when needed to stop Isla being outnumbered on the flank. As a result he was isolated as Spurs were able to get Danny Rose beyond the Chilean.
Joey Barton: 6
Was at least seen to be willing to put a foot in and his set-piece delivery was better than against Hull. But Spurs were easily able to play around him and Rangers’ lack of mobility in midfield was a factor throughout.
Leroy Fer: 5
A Rangers debut to forget. Poor in possession and at fault for the second goal.
Jordon Mutch: 5
A passenger in midfield, totally unable to affect the game and consistently failing to press Spurs, who moved the ball out of defence far too easily.
Armand Traore: 5
Sloppy from the outset – an early lapse might have led to a Spurs goal. Struggled defensively and offered very little going forward.
Matt Phillips: 5
Struggled to make an impact and missed a golden chance when he fired over with only the keeper to beat.
Loic Remy: 5
Ineffective up front, although the service was virtually non-existent. There are no excuses for his obvious reluctance to defend from the front though. A spectator as Spurs built from the back at will.
Nedum Onuoha: 6
Replaced Dunne at half-time and the defence improved as a result, although by then Spurs were 3-0 up and coasting.
Alejandro Faurlin: 6
Came on in the second half when the intensity of the game had eased and the popular midfielder was therefore able to play the ball around and look the part.

QPR were slow, lacked energy, passion and willpower. No one seemed motivated. Looked like a team with no matematical way of ensuring Premier League survival. Surely this was our lowest point? There looked like there were no connections or communications between defence and midfield, and midfield and attack. When our strikers were on the ball, the five players closest to them were Spurs players, they were completely isolated! Every time Remy got the ball he had no option but to try and drible himself to some space, with him most of the time ending up with being disposessed. Three centre midfielders, but it only seemed like one. Caulker was our best player, Faurlin and Onuoha didn’t do too badly either when coming on. We need to play with Caulker and Onuoha in defence with no wignbacks but fullbacks. Caulker and Onuoha! What a physical presence in defence! Our entire defence was bad, but Richard Dunne was on another level of bad! If that’s what we’re getting from him this season, he can forget about even making the subs. Worst team performance so far this Premier League season. Embarrasing.

In my opinion the reason QPR were outplayed was because nowadays you cannot play with a 3 5 2 formation away from home. There was so much space for Spurs to exploit. The QPR midfield simply don’t know what to do and the wide men aren’t fit enough. Harry has got to change to 4 5 1 to avoid such humiliating hammerings
