Suarez buy-out clause to alert Chelsea and Man City – report

Luis Suarez has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Liverpool for £40m, according to the Sunday People.

It is claimed Chelsea and Manchester City want the striker and could get him for less than the £50m apparently quoted as the asking price.

A number of today’s papers suggest former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola – widely reported to be Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s first choice to take over as manager – would rather go to Manchester United.

The Sunday Mirror say the Spaniard has reservations about the way Abramovich runs Chelsea, while the Sun on Sunday and Mail on Sunday run similar stories.

The Sun on Sunday also report that Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was previously interested in signing Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.

And the Daily Star Sunday claim Torres is a ‘total outcast’ at Stamford Bridge and that ‘special treatment’ of the Spaniard from Abramovich has angered other players.

Meanwhile, Adel Taarabt is likely to leave QPR following Harry Redknapp’s appointment as manager, according to the People.

Based on the fact that Taarabt was allowed to leave Tottenham by Redknapp, it is suggested that he will be frozen out at Loftus Road and that he has told friends he expects to move.

The People also suggest keeper Rob Green is likely to return to the side, while there will be no return for Joey Barton.

The Star say the appointment of Rafael Benitez at Chelsea accelerated the sacking of Mark Hughes.

It is suggested that Benitez and Redknapp were Rangers’ top two targets to replace Hughes and when one took another job they felt they needed to act quickly to avoid missing out on the other.

The Star say Redknapp is keen to sign Scott Parker, Michael Dawson and former R’s striker Peter Crouch, who played under him at Spurs.

The Mail on Sunday also say Redknapp wants the trio and that he would like to sign David Beckham as well.
