Speculation over ‘woeful’ Schurrle’s future as Chelsea are tipped to sell

Chelsea could sell Andre Schurrle in January to make way for new signings, The Sun say.

Schurrle has been struggling for form and there has been speculation that he could leave, with Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus recently linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge in an exchange deal.

And The Sun say he is fighting for his future at the club as manager Jose Mourinho looks to add to the squad when the transfer window reopens.

A source is quoted as saying: “Jose’s got to generate his own spending money in January but doesn’t want to sell any of his top stars.

“So he’s looking at his fringe players and, on current form, Schurrle is the obvious choice.

“He’s not a regular and his form has been woeful this season — a real drop despite having returned from Brazil on a high after winning the World Cup.

“He’d also bring in a good fee, giving Jose the funds to move into the market himself.”

Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest Chelsea look set to bring in Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

It is claimed that Mourinho has been given the green light to sign the France international in a £19m deal.
