Sidelined QPR star tells fans his recovery is going well

QPR winger Matt Phillips has told fans on Twitter that his recovery from an ankle injury is going well.

Rangers have missed Phillips and top scorer Charlie Austin – Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday was their fifth loss in eight matches and they look all but out of the race for automatic promotion.

Phillips tweeted: “For those asking about my recovery..Specialist is happy with how the ankle is healing ,out of my boot and getting back on both feet#progress.”

Rangers are certainly in need of a boost after the result at Hillsborough, where defender Richard Dunne was sent off.

But vice-chairman Amit Bhatia appealed to supporters not to give up hope.

Bhatia tweeted: “Really tough result for us yesterday. My little guy was pretty inconsolable with grief this morning. Told him to stay +ve. To believe.

“It’s tight, but you’ve gotta believe we’ll be ok. #QPR #ItAintEasyButItsNeverBeen #ItsWorthThePain.”

Chief executive Philip Beard wrote: “Apologies to R’s fans. Need to stick together and bounce back.”
